It’s a two-tone: brown and blue.

It looks like it is well on its way to becoming completely brown.

Oh, if it wasn’t for the welding it gets every year to pass the MOT, it’d look like this by now:

What is MOT? Where are you, approximately? Looks like it must snow there.

Ugh. Every year. What exactly do you have to weld?

These are the worst modern car for rust I’ve ever seen. Shame because they’re reliable A to B cars otherwise. Hell I'd consider a sportka if it wasn't for rust worries.

A test in the UK to decide whether or not your car is a death trap. Very little snow in the south of the UK but a lot of rain.

Let me guess, it rusts like hell in the usual places, being near the fuel filler door, the rear wheel wells and the end of the door sill/side skirt area?

Wait, isn’t that a Lancia Beta?

Hasn’t the Ka rather a reputation for becoming lighter by the replacement of steel by rust?

Like the TÜV in Germany? When I lived there in the late 80s, I several times had to have patches welded over rust spots on my Audi. I think the Germans hated that so many American soldiers were driving POS cars.

Thankfully, the garage my sister gets it MOT’d at does the welding. I think the main thing’s the sills.

Sadly, you don’t need snow for rust to set in. Damp weather will do the job just fine.
Ask me how I know...

Yearly road safety test. And we don’t actually get much snow—there’ll be a little every couple of years, but nothing regular. Ford Kas just rust like nothing else. My older Peugeot’s completely rust free.

Same! I actually really like the look of the SportKA, and they’re supposed to be great fun, too—I just couldn’t put up with the rust. Same thing keeps me from ever considering old Pumas and such, even though I’ve always liked them.

It amazes me, too. Not even a teeny bit of bubbling paint.

A Ka with no rust around the filler cap is like an early Mondeo without a cracked rear bumper - an entirely mythical beast.

Oh my God yes! I swear the bumpers on 1st and 2nd gen mondeo said came with bumpers made of paper; it's probably been 10 years since I noticed one that was intact

Foreigners refer to both Irish and Scots Gaidhlig as “Gaelic”. The two are to an extent mutually comprehensible.

I want one of those. We never got them in the USA and it makes me sad.
